A Christian is a person who has a personal relationship with
Jesus Christ of Nazareth
and has invited him to be Lord and Saviour of their life.
Why should one need to do this? The Bible, God's letter to us, says so.
The theme of the Bible in summary is:
- All humanity have sinned
- The penalty for sin is death (spiritual)
- Jesus who created everything, became a man
- He died on the cross (as represented by the image to the right)
- But He rose again on the 3rd day
- Having paid for our sins on the cross
- Now He is seated at the right hand of God
- He is coming again to judge the living and the dead
What must I do to become a Christian?
- Repent or turn away from what you know is wrong
- Invite Jesus to be Lord and Saviour of your life
- Read this simple prayer below to get familiar with it
- Then say it out aloud to God, if you mean it.

Prayer
Lord Jesus Christ forgive me for not living a life that is acceptable to a Holy God. I thank you that you left heaven and humbled yourself by becoming a man and died in my place for my sins on the cross. Not only that but I believe that God raised you from the dead and now you stand at God's right hand side. Thank you Lord Jesus that you are the only way, the truth and the life.
I believe that you are the son of the Living God and I invite you into my heart to be my Lord and Saviour.
Thank you that you have come into my life as you have said in the bible and now I am acceptable to you, a loving God.

Remember that Christianity is a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ with the help of the Holy Spirit working in your life. If you have prayed this prayer in all sincerity, Jesus will hear you and you will be born again, or born from above. The bible says that you will be a new creation, the old you has died. Now you are a Christian, a son or daughter of the living God. From now on God will help you to become the person He meant you to be.
Now that you are a Christian it is important that you get and read your Bible and pray daily. Prayer is talking to God. It is a means whereby we communicate with God and He with us. Primarily God speaks to us through the Bible and prayer.
It is important that you find a good church to attend weekly where the gospel of Jesus Christ is preached. It is also important to have fellowship with other mature Christians so that you can grow and reach your full potential in God.
